Youth & Community

Education in the community is another aspect of LIFE NI’s education service, working with young people in the informal sector - in youth clubs or youth groups and in different groups in the community such as women’s groups or church groups.

Presentations are tailored to the needs of individual groups at their request and can be delivered any where in Northern Ireland.

Connect

A programme for youth clubs/groups

‘Connect’ is a personal development and relationships programme designed to enable young people to look at themselves and their relationships in a realisitic and holistic way and to encourage them to consider the implications of choices they make for their present and future health and well-being.

The programme is based on an abstinence-centred approach which encourages delaying sexual activity and the material is adaptable for different age groups.

The sessions are delivered by trained facilitators to small groups and contain a mix of factual information and opportunities for discussion. The programme is based on 10 weekly sessions, but can be tailored to fit within different time constraints.

Active participation by the young people through questions and discussion is encouraged to enable sharing and open communication and help the young people to benefit fully from the sessions.
